Weeds and diseased plants in compost piles

Question: Should weed seed heads and diseased plants be avoided in low heat piles?

As long as the seed heads and roots of weeds are effectively killed before they enter the low heat piles, you can still take advantage of this material and the nutrients it provides. Methods for killing the weeds first include: rotting (weed tea), desiccating, composting in separate bags first.
